The school is situated on the south side of Managua in the neighborhood of Batahola. At the end of 2009 the board of Directors of Pan y Amor signed a 20 year agreement with another nonprofit organization to take over the administration and maintenance of their large school; initiating the 2010 school year with over 1000 students. In this center students are received from the age of three years old in the three levels of preschool, followed by six grades of elementary school and the 5 grades of high school. During the last three years of high school, technical vocational training is a must; to date offering accounting, administration and computer careers courses.
In both the school centers, primary school students attend a nine hour schedule receiving their formal education during the morning hours and extra curriculum courses during the afternoons, such as music, dance, art, english as a second language, computer, sports and extra tutoring.
These children also receive 2 hot cooked meals a day with a nutritious cereal drink before they leave in the afternoon; for many the last meal of the day.
Both centers count with a team of social workers and psychologist who attend on an individual bases when needed, the emotional and physical needs of the students as well as their material requirements, including school uniforms, note books, shoes and even their transport fare to and from the schools. They keep in close contact with the parents and visit the homes should the child be absent from school without consent, for 3 days or more.
