The Sewing Shop was reorganized in 2008, leaving two ladies, Esperanza and Ana, working full time on manual machines (due to the lack of electric power the industrial sewing machines donated to Pan y Amor can not be used at all) and a young tailor who works from home when needed. The sewing team produces school uniforms for the children of the center that can not afford to buy them, for the boys of Hogar San Cristóbal, and for other non profit organizations as well as sheets for the Hogar and covers for sleeping pads. The “Zipper Day” is celebrated once a month: All children can leave their garments with broken zippers or missing buttons to be repaired by the sewing team.
