Due to governmental regulations, Hogar San Cristóbal is changing its profile from a child welfare home to a boys boarding section of Pan y Amor School. In a not too distant future we hope to be able to add a boarding section for about 30 girls.
This change does not only mean an organizational change. It also means that we will be restricted in the children we can admit. It will not be permitted to accept abused or abandoned boys, although it will give us the opportunity to take up to 25 extremely poor boys from out of town, offering them an education at Pan y Amor School, and giving them a chance to a stable diet, 24 hours supervision, regulated study and sleeping hours, health care and on three weekends a month organized classes, workshops and sports events. The weekend computer, music and English classes will continue, as well as organized talks about health, sexual education, non violence and other topics that help to a good mental, moral and ethical development.
