The Center takes children as young as new born, offering working mothers a safe place to leave their children while they work at the center as a part of the support team or in the market area. The children are received at 7a.m. and are returned to their parents at 3 p.m.
The day care is divided in two parts, the babies from new born to 18 months and the toddlers from 18 months to 3 years old. The children then pass to the first of three levels of pre school.
At the school’s present location the room is so restricted that only a few spaces can be offered to mothers who work in the Market area. Most of the babies and toddlers are children of Pan y Amor employees who live under extremely poor circumstances and would not be working at all if not employed at Pan y Amor. It is expected to change this situation with the new construction, so that more assistance can be offered to the working mothers in the area.
Many of the babies come to the Center within the first few days or weeks of their live and many of them with sores or very mal-nourished.
